Tate Family Moab Trip 2007

The family has been planning this trip for a while now, and we finally got to go! Yay! So we all went down to Moab for the weekend. All the campgrounds in or close to Moab were jam-packed full of people, so we had to drive an extra 33 miles down the road to Windwhistle Campground...which turned out to be awesome. It was so beautiful! I have to say...in the five years that I've lived in Utah, this is the first time that I've been able to see some of the great stuff this state has to offer. Saturday started out a bit bleak--it was windy and chilly and it rained for a little bit. But it turned out to be a beautiful day. We got to go to Needles Overlook, which is this awesome, beautiful cliff overlooking miles and miles of red rock canyons. We also got to go four wheeling and play around on a Rhino that Brad brought. Have you ever been in a Rhino? Basically it's a mini jeep/golf cart type thing that can ride on anything. We were riding it on big red rock hills...it was scary, but very very fun. Then we went on a hike with the whole family, which sadly led to nothing. Maybe we missed it, but we were supposed to hike to this waterfall or something. But after about 3 miles down, there was no waterfall so we turned back(the guide person we'd talk to said it was a mile there and a mile back..but whatever). But the red rock canyons on the hike were still very pretty. On Sunday we all woke up and had some breakfast, sat around the fire for a while, and packed up to go to Arches. However, on the way there, the diesel truck Brad was driving ran out of gas. If any of you have ever run out of gas in a diesel, you know how we all felt...they are a BEAST to get started. And unfortunately, we never got it started again yesterday. So poor Brad had to stay down in Moab and try to get it fixed. We all waited around for about 5 hours, be everyone was tired and grumpy, so we all packed in the remaining cars and headed home. So the fun weekend ended a little bleak, but it was still very fun! Justin and I plan on going down there again soon...anyone wanna come??

The girls waiting to go for a ride on the Rhino!

And Quinn getting tired of waiting to go for a ride...I'm sure he's thinking "can everyone stop talking and getting ready so we can just go!!"

Justin breaking the rules...you probably can't see it in the picture but there was a gap between the rocks that he was on and the rocks that the fence was on. He's stupid & crazy.

Some cool pics..

On the Rhino...

So, I'm sorry for the long blog but I had to put some good pictures up! It was tons of fun and I can't wait to go again!

Hey, seeing Judd on that rock reminded me of the times when we would go to Arches with the scouts and he would do the same thing! Stu's dad almost had a hemorrhage because of that one time! Nice! I'm glad you're still workin' the sauce! - alan
