rowan's first hospital visit
we did not have a great week last week. rowan and i got home from new jersey last monday night, and that night rowan didn't sleep at all. by the next morning she had a fever of 104.3. we were pretty freaked out...she was white as a ghost, her eyes kept rolling back into her head, and she had this cry-grunt thing which the doctor first thought was pneumonia. after justin gave her a blessing, we headed to the doctor's office, and he wanted to admit her to the hospital.
so we went to the hospital and they started her on an iv, because she really wasn't eating well. they also gave her tylenol and put wet cloths on her head and body to try to cool her down. she had a bunch of blood tests and an xray (to check for pneumonia). through all of this she didn't cry once, maybe because she was so out of it, i don't know. she did cry, however, when they drew blood from the vein in her forhead (i think i'd cry if they did that to me too..) so we were there from tuesday through thursday morning. she was finally diagnosed with strep pneumonia bacteria, which they found in her blood. so she's currently on antibiotics and is doing much better, but it was scary there for a couple of days! this was our first big trial with rowan, and i think we got through it without panicking too much. we just love her and are so glad she's ok!

I have been thinking about you guys a lot so I am glad to hear she is doing better and you guys are on the other end of this ordeal. Taking blood out of her forehead is pretty crazy, she is a tough baby to put up with all that and only cry then! Tell Rowan she is grounded from the Hospital :)
I am so glad things turned out well! Nothing is scarier than a sick child.

What a sad time for Rowan. I've never heard of taking blood from a forehead. That's crazy. Braden had a similar situation where his temp. was at 104. He started to have a seizure. Scary Scary!! Good job on how you've been able to deal with it!
Sad! Sorry she was so sick! Its amazing how much kids can make you worry. Glad she is doing better!
