where have we been?
seriously, could i be a bigger blog slacker? i think not. it seems like we've had so much going on. we have, and we haven't. here's a quick recap of our month of may (without many photos because i've also been slacking in that area).justin and i went to st. george with our friends, the gunters. it was great fun, and extremely relaxing. we went to vegas one of the days and did nothing the rest. that is the best kind of vacation, in my opinion. rowan didn't come....our first time away from her overnight (or several nights). we missed her, but i have to say it was nice! and i wouldn't mind doing it again! by the way, thank you bryson and jaclyn for inviting us to go with you. we'll have to do it again sometime.
justin turned 30. we didn't do too much during the day, but he and i went out to dinner, just the two of us, that night. tepanyaki. yum. then some friends came over for cake and ice cream, or rather, ice cream cake. and we also watched some nba finals, because that's what we do. i felt bad that i didn't do a huge shabang for his big 30th, but we'll get to the reason why momentarily. oh, he did get to go out to the movies with some buddies a couple of nights later, which he thoroughly enjoyed. we both have been working so much lately that going to movies is a rare luxury. so it was nice that he could go.
{taken after she fell asleep within 5 minutes of me leaving the room to do change laundry over or something}rowan turned 16 months in may. she's getting so old. and so fun. some of the things she loves right now:
-balls. any size, any ball. this includes balloons, which she thinks are balls as well. anytime she sees one while we're driving, she starts freaking out, chanting "ball-ball-ball-ball-ball". it's extra funny because she over-pronounces the "ll" part of "ball". you have to see it to understand how funny it is.
-her hot wheels jeep. a friend sold this to us for super cheap, and while she's waaaaay too small for it, she loves going into the garage and just sitting in it. don't ask me why.
-emptying mom's wallet. she'll take all of my cards and business cards out, and find somewhere else to put them in and out of, like a little toy van. she's so bizarre.
-books. i love that she loves having us read her books. it's our routine to read before naps and bedtime, but if i'm working on the computer she will often times go into her room and look at her books.
-the playground. this is fine, except for the fact that she's so tiny and so fast, and she likes to live on the edge. the thing is, she will (try) to climb up as high as she can on any given jungle gym, but she doesn't really like going down the slides. i think she sees other kids doing the monkey bars and sliding down the poles and stuff and wants to try. it freaks me out, and i run up and grab her every time. i think we'll stick to running around in the grass.
-other kids. she's kind of timid and won't really interact with them, but she'll run up to them and look at them, occasionally saying hi. but then she just stands there and watches them play.
-bathtime. she loves playing with her toys, and being in the bath. BUT she can't stand getting rinsed off--every time i try to put her head under the faucet or pour water over her head to rinse shampoo, she squirms and stands up and tries to get out of the bath.
she's kind of talking...and we're really working on this. she can say dada, mama, lola, dog (gog), nana, ball. she can tell us what a dog says and what a lion says. she'll repeat me when i say "pretty" (comes out pea), "all gone" ('ah ga'), "no, no, no", "bye-bye". and others that i'm sure i can't think of at the moment. when i say "no, no, no" she always points at the dog and says "no, no, no" to her. i guess she gets that from me always telling lola no.
she's such a fun girl, and we love her to pieces.
as for me, i've been work-work-working, and i am SO exhausted. i should be working on lima bean kids this very moment, but felt guilty for not updating in so long. oh, and one more thing...
this is why justin didn't have a huge 30th bday party, and why i've been sooooo extremely tired and sick. hopefully we're coming out of that stage in the next week or so!!so that's our life in a nutshell right now. sorry for the extremely long and boring post. i am committed to being better about photos and blogging from here on out!!
