30 3/7 weeks down....

no this isn't my belly. but it is getting bigger, and it still feels like i have an eternity before the girl gets here. a little less than 10 weeks left, and i've still got tons to do: set up the room, get all the hospital registration stuff taken care of {like i even know what to do with that?? hoping the doc's office will walk me through it all}, perhaps take a birthing/prenatal class, since i've never done this before {but i'd like to know everyone's thoughts on that--yes? no? worth it? not?}, get my "hospital bag" ready in case something happens {we're sure hoping nothing emergency-like happens..}. all this to do, yet i feel too tired to even think about doing it. i'd much rather focus on christmas shopping and holiday cards. i don't know if this is because i'm scared to give birth or if i just want to get all of the other stuff out of the way so i can concentrate on her. so, let the countdown begin...9 weeks and 4 days to go....

Hey Jules about the birthing classes...I wouldn't say it was necessary because nothing is going to prepare you for labor but labor itself. If you would feel more ready and prepared if you took one then by all means take them. My honest opinion is they aren't worth it and the nurses will be right there to walk you through the whole thing! :)

The classes aren't a necessity. Get yourself a good book about it and you'll be fine. The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy is hilarious and eye opening, I highly recommend it. As long as you know the basic stuff you will be fine because everyone's situation is completely different. Enjoy just thinking about xmas, etc. for the next 9 weeks and 4 days (?) because it is the last time in your life that that is all you will be thinking about. Your future Christmas's will be much more wonderful, but just enjoy what you don't have now!

I can't believe you are almost to the end, how exciting! I agree with Holly, just get a few good books, they give you so much more info than a class.

Wow - I can't believe you're that far along already. And I do have to go along with everybody about the classes. They're boring and not all that helpful. You'll be fine - and I promise labor is not nearly as bad as you will think/expect!

Jules, I suggest the one day class offered...not a bunch of classes, just the one, if not for you, Juddy may need it..Plus, it helped me calm down a titch before the unknown.

Wow, I can't believe how far along you are, Jules. Congrats! I'm sure you've already thought about this, but this is going to be your last Christmas without your little girl. I agree with Holly that Christmases get better after having kids, but enjoy this Christmas for what it is with just you and Justin. :)

I went to the one day class, it wasn't really that helpful but for some reason it made me feel better. Get the book that Holly suggested (The Girlfriend's Guide). I love it! I am so excited for you guys, I can't wait!

i would recommend a 1 day class also...i was working a ton while i was pregnant and really didn't have any time to read a book, but the class helped me calm my nerves more than anything. but i ended up with an emergency C-section, so most of the stuff i learned went out the window! but at the same time, i think just hearing someone else talk you through it was helpful for me. but it's totally not necessary...and you may find more support in talking to friends and family.
