friends + fire = fun

went up the canyon last night for a bonfire with friends. lots of fun. it was the perfect night for it too. a little chilly, but not freezing. perfect temperature with a fire going. i love the view of utah valley from the mountains, and the spot where we were had the most incredible view.

we brought some wood, a little lighter fluid, and s'mores fixin's (plus starbursts to make giant skittles...you must try this) and settled in for a few hours of talking and laughing.

here's the gals: jaclyn, shanny, jules, jacquelyn

and justin with the pup.
loved it friends, lets do it again soon

Summertime....and the livin's easy

There's nothing like having a good weekend full of R&R. Justin had off Friday and Saturday, so I took a half day at work on Friday so we could just hang out for the weekend. And what did we do? Absolutely nothing eventful. Sometimes that's the best kind of weekend right? Friday night we kicked off our restful couple of days by getting takeout from Cafe Rio. Always good. Then we spent the rest of the night just hanging out: Justin is trying to re-read all of the Harry Potter books before the next one comes out in July, so he did that while I just watched movies and what not. Very productive, yes?

On to Saturday. We slept in, and it was great. In fact, it was so late that by the time we woke up and got around to actually getting up out of bed, we were ready for lunch. That's right, not breakfast, LUNCH. (Don't judge us, we don't have kids yet!) So we just grabbed some pizza from the mall, and then got in our swimsuits and headed up to Vivian Park with the dogs, Lola and Daisy (who we're watching for the weekend). Here's some of that action:

Gotta love the Chuck It to wear those dogs down!

This was a little kid who thought the dogs were fun and that the Chuck it was awesome. Justin tried to teach him how to throw with it. Cute.
After the canyon, I got to go get a much needed pedicure. It was great. I chose a summery orange for the toes:

Finally, to close it all out, we went and hung out with Jacqs, Josh, Adam, Shannon, Lindsay, David & Jenny Butler and their respective children at SmartCookie down by BYU. (If you didn't go outside on Saturday night, you really missed out....it was the most beautiful evening.) And then after SmartCookie we decided we were hungry for real food so we went and got steaks at Outback.

Fun weekend huh?
(Sorry about the foot closeup!)

Vivian Park

We went to Vivian Park since it was such a nice day on Saturday. Plus my mom was in town and she loves going up and seeing Provo Canyon. Justin's brother Jamis, his daughter Ella, my sister Jessica, her best friend Carina, my mom, Justin and I, and the dogs went up for a while just to relax and enjoy the weather.

Lola is not a very good swimmer, and every time we try to get her to, she just clomps around in the water. She's so clumsy, it's hilarious. Every time we'd throw a stick to Daisy, she'd swim out and get it and then Lola would meet her halfway, steal the stick and bring it back to Justin and Jamis. Poor Daisy did all the work and got none of the credit for it!

Ella also wanted to swim, so when she saw the dogs going for it, she decided to strip off her pants and diaper to join in the fun.

It was a fun day!

Poor Lola!

Considering the fact that we don't have any kids yet, I'm sure you can all understand how we feel about Lola--she's our baby. In January we took her to the vet to get her spayed, but they wouldn't do it because she was really sick from eating wet food. The other day, Lola started her "in heat" cycle. Since we didn't want her getting gross stuff anywhere and we DID NOT want her to encounter a male dog (we all know what would the wonderful results of that would be...) we took her to the vet again to get her spayed. Everything went well, but when she came out of surgery she was completely out of it. We felt so bad for her!! Our usually hyper, happy dog was just laying around, completely sullen, depressed, and undoubtedly in pain. She wouldn't eat or drink anything, and to top it off, she had to wear the cone so she wouldn't lick her incision. Poor Lola!

Lola

Meet Lola when she was a puppy. Now, she's 65 lbs and she thinks she can still lay in bed with us. She pretty much takes me down every time she runs up the stairs after me. And she ruins everything we put in her kennel to make it more comfy. She's cute though isn't she?
